KARINA is a devised theatre artist and director born in London, based in Chicago and raised everywhere else! She graduated from Northwestern University in June '22 with a BA in Theatre and History.
Karina has developed new and devised work with APIDA Arts Festival at Goodman Theatre, Token Theatre, 24 Hour Plays, Pocket Theatre VR and the Actor's Gymnasium. She has served as an assistant director at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Lookingglass Theatre Company, Court Theatre and was the Associate Director on Madhuri Shekar’s House of Joy at the Repertory Theatre of St Louis. She recently made her professional acting debut in Madhuri Shekar's QUEEN at Penobscot Theatre Company.
Karina is invested in creating new work that uplifts the voices of Asian, immigrant, and Asian-immigrant communities in the United States. Her work often sits in the magical and the absurd, striving to illuminate the very real complexities of identity-making by situating them in worlds that feel just as nonsensical as our own.
Currently, she is working with the Physical Theatre Festival as their Project Manager and Workshop Coordinator, and developing lots of new plays with lots of new friends!
When not in rehearsal, you can find Karina reading, baking or making excuses to get bubble tea for the third time that week :)
